Reforma reports that the medical community in Cd. Juárez supports Sicilia’s movement against the violence. According to Reforma, the medical community practices medicine in secret, making patient visits only with those that they are familiar with because of the fear of criminal activity.
Reforma quotes Leticia Chavarría, board member of the Citizen Medical Committee, as admitting that cases of kidnappings of medical professionals have diminished, but other crimes against them, like intimidation, extortion and assaults remain.
